Penny Heyns
Pretoria-based Penny Heyns became a household name both locally and abroad after doing what no woman had ever done in Olympic history. She won South Africa’s first gold medal in 44 years and became the only female breaststroker to ever win both the 100m and 200m events in the same Olympic Games … and she did so in Olympic and World record times. She has not just excelled as a sportswoman in the international arena, having broken a total of 14 world records, but has re-created herself, after her retirement in 2001, as a businesswoman, Television presenter, and a sought-after Motivational/Inspirational speaker. Although she studied Psychology, her highest qualification was obtained through the “University of Life”, and she builds her presentations on her own experiences with real-life examples applicable to the world of business, sport and life in general.
