The band consists of 4 guys and 2 female vocalistes and are originally from the Republic of Congo (Brazzaville ). They speak and sing in English, French and a couple of African languages. Three of the band members are ex-teachers and two others have University degrees.
They play all styles of music from pop, jazz, Latin, reggae, zouk (music from the Indian Ocean Islands).
Telama in Kongo language means, “Stand up and Act”. They were formed in Congo in February 1999 and participated in many events in Congo:
· Music Festivals organised by French Cultural Centre and also churches and the Red Cross
· FESPAM 1999 (Pan African Music Festival)
· FESPAM 2003
· Jazz Workshops organised by the American Culture Centre & attended lectures by top American & French jazz musician/lecturers.
