HAVANA GAS is the perfect choice for corporate functions and launches, weddings, matric dances etc. Our reliability and ability to adapt to any audience has made us firm favourites at top venues such as the American Club in Singapore, Storme Campbell (bass/vocals) released her self-titled debut CD late 2001. The album recently reached number two on the SA Rock Digest Charts. She is a distinctive, vibrant and versatile vocalist who constantly surprises and impresses the audience. She studied bass at the Pretoria Tech Jazz School. Doug Campbell (guitar/vocals) signed with Virgin Records in the UK, where Sting produced three of his songs. He co-wrote the music for the movie “Heel Against The Head” and wrote the score for a TV series filmed in Europe. Shereen Parker (keyboards/sax/vocals) is a graduate of UCT and a member of the National Youth Big Band. She has played with Judith Sephuma. David Klassen (vocals/drums) has worked with Danny K, Ernie Smith and TK, and is a member of the band in the popular “Noot vir Noot” television game show. Philip Holder (saxes/vocals) is an orchestral arranger who has worked with such jazz luminaries as Bruce Cassidy, Johnny Fourie and Izio Gros. A graduate of Pretoria Tech, he plays tenor, alto and soprano saxophones. Phillip Meintjies (vocals/drums) recently completed a stint at top venues in Dubai. He has recorded with Ray Phiri, Miriam Makeba, Stimela, Caiphus & Letta, James Ingram, Al Jarreau, George Duke etc. Tandeka Marwanqa (vocals) was lead singer for “Black Slave” and appeared at the top venues and clubs around SA. As an actress she co-starred in the SABC series “Footprints.” Basi Mahlasela (percussion) is in demand as a session musician, and his appearances on recordings, TV and jingles are too numerous to list here. He also performs live with SA’s top musicians and visiting international artists.
