He has performed in all the major Theatre Centres in South Africa, and internationally he has worked in the UK and the USA, Sweden and on a variety of occasions The Netherlands as well as in neighbouring Swaziland and Namibia. He is the currently the 'golden-tongued' presenter of Mnet and Kyknet's very popular celebrity show LIRIEKERAAI, and hosts the game-show VAT 'N KANS. Previous outings for Mnet include presenting - on location- a TRAVEL PROGRAM on the Eastern Cape, field reporting for the magazine program FRONT ROW and hamming it up for their comedy shows LAGNET and FUNNY COUNTRY.
On the SABC screens he has appeared in a multitude of guises, including starring in OFF THE RECORD - a series satirising election politics, acting in the multi- lingual drama series REFLECTIONS, playing Strepies the zebra in the educational series BOSPRAATJIES and the deliciously vacant tortoise Timothy Traddle on KIDEO. He did a two-year, daily stint for Capetalk Radio presenting his talk show AIRBORNE, after his very successful start with Punt Geselsradio on his Afrikaans show GORRELPUNT. For the SABC he did a Saturday morning Show on RSG and the comic characters FANIE for METRO FM and ROSIE for AMLive. He has been nominated for numerous awards and has on occasion received a BEST ACTOR, BEST SUPPORTING ACTOR, and a LIFETIME CONTRIBUTION TO THE ARTS awards. Some of his self-penned works include: WOESKROES, his one-man post-democracy reality check that he is currently reworking into a movie script. THE HEPPIE HAWKER - DC DIAMOND and his stories of love, life and everything else on the Cape Flats, with which he also toured abroad. Soli has performed in a range of Theatrical productions from Shakespeare (COMEDY OF ERRORS/ ROMEO AND JULIET/HAMLET) to GENET (THE BLACKS) to BECKETT (WAITING FOR GODOT) to the work of SA playwrights like PIETER-DIRK UYS, ROBERT KIRBY and ANDRE P. BRINK (JUST LIKE HOME/ WRONG TIME OF YEAR/ KINKELS INNIE KABEL) to work about the Cape's History (DISTRICT SIX-THE MUSICAL/ BUCKINGHAM PALACE, DISTRICT SIX/ POLITICAL JOKE). He has directed a number of diverse productions (ARACHNID/PAS DE DEUX/BOERLESQUE) and has made regular forays into children's theatre (THE RAIN QUEEN/JACK AND THE BEANSTALK/SONGS AND TALES FROM AFRICA) as well as a number of film appearances (KAALGAT TUSSEN DIE DAISIES/PRINS VAN PRETORIA/ROAD TO MECCA). Corporate Employment saw him performing for more than FORTY COMPANIES and ORGANISATIONS in 2001 alone as either master-of-ceremonies, motivational speaker or celebrity entertainer including hosting the MISS NAMIBIA BEAUTY PAGAENT, HUISGENOOT SKOUSPEL 2001, THE WESTERN CAPE ANTI-RACISM CONFERENCE, THE SACP 80TH ANNIVERSARY DINNER and THE NTVA STONE AWARDS. Last year he was also the featured celebrity for the Lewis Client Awards evenings and presented an AIDS Management video for PICK 'N PAY.
He does voice-over work for radio and advertising, was a regular contributor to the BEELD column KOPSTUKKE, wrote a front-page column SOLI'S CORNER for THE ARGUS, and with his wife and manager TONI is PATRON of THE FRIENDS OF THE RED CROSS CHILDREN'S HOSPITAL.
